What is High Tibial Osteotomy?

High tibial osteotomy is a surgical procedure performed to realign an abnormally aligned tibia. This is typically for someone with a “bow leg” alignment, also called genu varum.

Indications for High Tibial Osteotomy

High tibial osteotomy is commonly performed for osteoarthritis that is isolated to the inner portion of the knee when one is in varus alignment or if someone is in varus and also is meniscus deficient or had a cartilage defect that is being resurfaced.
